Hello everyone,
Greetings from Nagaland, India
My name is Niksungla but I am mostly referred to by my moniker ‘Nicky’. After pursuing my masters in Human Rights, I am currently teaching in City Law College, Dimapur, Nagaland. Apart from my teaching profession, I practice as well as actively participate in social and church activities. In 2016, I founded an NGO called “Living For Environment (LiFE)” which is focused on protecting, preserving and conserving the environment.
Being selected as a participant in the 61st IATSS is a godsent opportunity for me. I have always been in love with Japan’s rich culture and heritage. To the extent, I am an ardent follower of her manga- an ‘otaku’ to be precise. So, for me, to get the opportunity to participate in this leadership training serves two purposes, viz., to visit my dream country and be inculcated with their way of life. Being introduced to different surroundings and experiences, and at the same time, fostering new relations with people from different walks of life will greatly mould me as an aspiring leader. I cannot wait to embark on this new journey and to meet everyone.
With warmest regards,
Niksungla (Nicky)
Truly Unparalleled
I believe almost all the participants will find it really hard to describe what the IATSS Forum is all about. Though it says youth leadership training, yet it is beyond any leadership or self-development program. My life and the world as I know has changed within this short period of time. Who I am now is different from the person I was before joining this program. For me, apart from all the other learnings, this program has helped me in truly getting to know myself better. And this has been my biggest achievement because now, I am trying to reach greater heights in a way I have never done before. I have started on a new venture as a result of the group study and also, have taken on more task not just to challenge myself but because now I know my capabilities.
Not only that, it has given me a new family – a truly diverse family with a mother, sisters and brothers. Last but not the least, just like the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz, it has given me a “heart”. In sum, this program is a one-of-a-kind exceptional program that gives one a life-changing experience.
